cill rialaig residency

Feb 2009:

I spent a month at the Cill Rialaig Artists Residency near Ballinskelligs in Co. Kerry.  This was the view form the back window.

For those of you who don’t know, the village was abandoned somewhere around fifty or sixty years ago, and fell into disrepair, only to be brought back to life by the efforts of the charity that Noelle Campbell Sharpe set up and helps organise.  It’s a not-for-profit organisation that maintains the six or seven small cottages.  Trying, by means of auctions, donations and events to further this one of a kind facility.

Anyway enough of the glamorous history lessons.

The place is incredible, the people around it fantastic, helpful, kind etc.

Looking forward to going back, and hearing more ghost stories around a turf fire.
